Syed Salahuddin Is Global Terrorist, Says US Ahead Of PM Modi-Trump Meet

To designate Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin as a global terrorist by US is nothing more than a political gimmick. Hizbul Mujahideen is an official militant wing of Jamat-e-Islami which is not only in Jammu Kashmir but also a religio-political-party both in India and Pakistan. In fact it was India itself had introduced Jamat-e-Islami in Jammu Kashmir to counter democratic freedom movement then spearheaded by late Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah. One can call Muhammad Ibn-e-Abdul Whab of Najad as the great grandfather of present jihadi Islam and the founder of Jamat-e-Islami Syed Mawdoodi as grandfather of it. Yousuf Shah now known as Salahuddin and his group of jihadi organizations known as Jihad council are based in PoK, cannot utter a word without the permission of Pakistani security establishment. His statements were part of Pakistan's 3 folds tactical manoeuvring - isolating people's democratic aspirations at world stage; using popular support of Kashmir for freedom as bargaining chip with India; practically to hide behind Indian rigid position of bilateralism except to issue statements. This policy is nothing but to Isolate world's direct attention to Kashmir and to ensure an image of bilateral aspect happening in Kashmir which negate the people of the state and force world community to see it through a desired lenses of Delhi and Islamabad.
This kind of Indo-Pak ruling class attitude goes back to 50s. Rumours were spread against Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah that he was preparing to declare unilaterally an Independent Jammu Kashmir state with the consent of USA. I myself was told in London by late Harkishan Singh Surjeet who had been general secretary of Indian CPI (M) that "Sheikh Abdullah was going to declare an Independent Kashmir with the consent of USA, then, I was looking after Kashmir, so we toppled his government." I looked at his face to gauge an Indian Marxist and his concept of freedom! Same story had happened on Pakistani side of Kashmir. When Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan had given his advice to Pakistan Foreign Office for the withdrawal of Pakistani troops or at least to bring them down to Pakistani border areas so that Indian could not have an option to use it as a pretext for an escape route. Instead of implementing his recommendation, his government was dismissed with a smear campaign that Sardar Ibrahim Khan with the collaboration of British was promoting an agenda for an Independent Kashmir. That is why he want Pakistani troops to be withdrawn from that territory. Same old story was repeated with late Amanullah Khan. A conspiracy was woven at Islamabad to isolate him and his organization JKL from an opportunity of inter-action with diplomats and delink their link from diplomatic venues. While he was in New York campaigning at diplomatic front, his organization's fake linkage was spread to world resulting his ban on travel out of Pakistan.
So, to me, Syed Salahuddin case is nothing, but, another Indo-Pak political gimmick over Kashmir. Kashmir question is the question of freedom vs. colonial occupation and must be seen in this context. The people on both sides of the divide need to decide their future through ballot not bullet and world community must put pressure on both states to allow UN to play its leading role in it. Indo-Pak territorial greed is the core hurdle in the path of people's right to exercise their right to self-determination. This policy serve no purpose or benefit to the people of both India and Pakistan but it serve the petty interest of the ruling elites. It is time that both countries avoid to hide behind blame games and allow people of the state to unite to have free movement in their own land so they can decide their future through free will by electing their own representatives and formulating their own constitution.
