Clashes continuing between YPG forces and al-Qaeda mercenaries in Iraq

Clashes between Kurdish forces of People Defense Units (YPG) and the mercenaries of the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS) are getting tough as the ISIS have intensified their attacks on Syria Kurdish regions, Rudaw TV said.
Ocalan Eysa, Deputy Defense Minister of the Kurdish canton of Kobani, one of the three cantons the Kurds have established in Syria Kurdish regions, said hundreds of mercenary fighters have been killed and two Kurdish forces have lost their lives in the battles.
Earlier reports said 140 mercenary jihadists have been killed in the clashes but no media has confirmed the casualties.

The Chief of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) military branch, Murat Karayilan, stated days ago that the so-called ISIS is seeking strategic goals in Kobani and in case of Kobani’s fall the Iraqi northern province of Kirkuk, no under the control of Kurds, will fall. The analysis by the PKK chief was criticized by Kurdistan Democratic Party official Hasu Mirkhan who said the reality is far from what Karayilan says.
