A woman has been jailed for more than five years after stealing £4.2 million worth of precious diamonds, by replacing them with a bag of pebbles.
60-year-old Lulu Lakatos worked with an international organized gang to target a Boodles jewelry shop in central London, disguising herself as a gemologist.
Met Police Detective Sergeant William Man said in a statement, “This was an audacious theft, carried out in plain view of experienced and professional staff at a renowned jeweler.
"The meticulous planning and execution of this theft reveal to me that those involved were highly skilled criminals."
