The news from Islamabad that PM Imran Khan's Party ticket holder corrupted an army officer Brigadier Naeem Malik.
Naeem from Chakwal, a city of Rawalpindi division Punjab Province, was serving in Inter-Services Intelligence as sector commander of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. He was offered by Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan a party ticket holder from Prime Minister Imran Khan Party, PTI to contest the election of AJK for an MLA seat scheduled to be held on 25 July 2021, an amount of 1 billion rupees in returned to appoint him as PM of AJK after rigging the election.
Probably, the military intelligence had discovered it and reported this misconduct to its office upon which he was called back for a preliminary inquiry in which he was found guilty, resulting to remove him from his present position for further legal proceedings.
The irony, that the same person who had been the source to corrupt the members of armed services, which is a very serious national security threat to any system of the states all across the world. Even though a section of Pakistani media had published this story yet Prime Minister Imran Khan went on not only seen to be sharing the same platform with his same party candidate but no action was taken. Even no inquiry after such lapses that a politician of the government party was involved in bribing the member of security services.
It was further revealed by Pakistan an ex-finance minister Mr. Ishaq Dar, that the same person had tried to bribe Mr. Nawaz Sharif himself to buy a senate seat, but, Mr. Sharif had refused by saying that senate seats are not for sale. I wonder how the law was a silent spectator when a person was openly involved in promoting a campaign to corrupt the system. One wonder why he was not arrested then?
As per history, I had come across the background of the same person that when he was working in Kuwait as a worker, he tried to corrupt even the members of the US Armed forces. He had escaped to Kashmir but the FBI went after him. He was arrested in AJK and taken to the USA for criminal investigation. One wonder why Mr. Clean is associated with people of such background?
Was it possible during the late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto? This type of person immediately would be handover to the police for crime promotion and corrupting the system of the state. The fact that after Zia took over in Pakistan, corruption becomes cancer which is killing the system from within. This cancer of corruption not only grows rapidly in Pakistan society at lower ranks but also in the Higher Judiciary, Military Services, and Intelligence Services of Pakistan which poses an existential threat to the state system itself.
Pakistan state and society cannot improve to serve its people better without correcting the course. Corrupting members of defense forces, government higher machinery, and members of the intelligence agency is unthinkable in modern times.
