"More than 6.8 million doses of the single-shot vaccine had been administered across the US as of 13 April. Among these, there were six reports of a rare blood clotting condition called cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST), which affects blood vessels in the brain, all of which were among women aged 18 to 48. A special meeting of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will review the reports on 14 April, the FDA and CDC said in a joint statement. “Until that process is complete, we are recommending a pause in the use of this vaccine out of an abundance of caution,” the statement said."
