In my view, Pakistan is facing more difficulties on its domestic front rather than on an external. If we look closely, the Pakistani political landscape paints a very grim picture alarming more for its own citizens compare to neighbors. It looks like there is no state functioning but gangs of criminals. Is it possible that a dozen presiding officers of the election polling stations along with the ballot papers had been abducted and discovered after 10-12 hours yet no one had been arrested or put on trial? Talat Sahib you are joking with the world!
In my view PM Modi using the words very calculated and carefully "devoid of terror and hostility" which speaks it all.
The natural and historical routes between AJK and J&K started during the Musharraf time allowing people and goods to travel across the border without passports or immigration checks. Trucks loaded with heroin uncovered by the police on the J&K side of the border and instead to launch an investigation to know who was behind it? What were the motives? Was it an organized drug-cartel that wants to use the subject routes to smuggle narcotic into J&K and India or politics behind it just to sabotage the routes, but instead to know the facts, the public protest started on the streets demanding to release our driver? Is this the way relationships can work between two states which shared their borders? When Musharaf took over, maybe just after a few weeks or months, one Sqarden Leader flew his 707 from Islamabad into New York and after parking his aircraft, went to MacDonald in order to sell 2 kg of a heron to an undercover FBI agent. Why we isolate and place people under lockdown to fight COVID19? The very reason that it can spread in the process of socialization. The culture of lawlessness and crimes spread, cannot stay within the borders. Therefore in my opinion here PM Modi is very correct to raise the basic question which demands behavior change for long-lasting peace and friendship between neighbors.
The question of Jammu & Kashmir state is the easiest one if both countries want to solve it but they don't want to. I am very sure that China will cooperate because the Chines system is a forward-looking system, not an inward-looking. That is why #Xinjing #Tibet both are autonomous regions.
The long-lasting peace which is fundamental for development and prosperity for both countries would only be workable if people of both sides of J&K allowed free movement in their own land. This would enable them to participate and elect their own representatives who can talk on their behalf and formulate a draft constitution to be put before people for the vote to approve or disapprove and to settle down relations not only with India and Pakistan but also with China. It is a known fact that the state of Jammu & Kashmir needs both India and Pakistan because of its geographical proximity and internal demands but at the same time, they want to make their own decision by themselves.
The name of the state is not Jammu & Kashmir as popularly known nowadays, but before 1947, the official name was the state of Jammu o Kashmir o Tibet o Gilgit o Baltistan ha. It had been a federal-state system for centuries till 1947.
What PM Modi's letter says, Captain Amarinder Singh the Chief Minister of Indian Punjab adding more salt into it. To me surprise surprise, if this was true, then nothing else but to sabotage the formers peace movement.
