I am of opinion that spreading ignorance, in today's world is illegal but back in the old days it was sin. This is one of the reason that most of the religious societies are extreme in corruption, in-competent, high-crime-rate, lawlessness, poverty, double-talks-in-every-walk of life. The societies which are less religious, are seen to be more scientific in their thought process, law conscious rather then believe conscious, rights conscious rather than banging on morals and values, better equality in society rather to talk of equality etc. The worship that based on reward (greed) and fear (punishment), fully grounded in the domain of a material lust rather than spiritual high ground. I think this is where the problem lie.
It is widely been observed that people, particularly Muslims, are always very quick to quote prophetic traditions or scripture without telling the back-ground and authenticity. If we discuss Islam, we all know that in the entire history of Islam, the scholars never even had agreed on the contents of the Qur'an itself (theory of abrogate and abrogated) let alone traditions which had been composed and edited after 200 years, without any written evidence, but based merely on memory of 3rd and 4rth generation. I have all rights to believe and worship, the way I understand it but I have no right to pass the judgemental remarks on others and become a barking dog of the streets. The basic element of every faith is it's spiritual high ground.
