To me, I don’t see any thing wrong in this picture or there is no such evidence to suggest that the boys and girls seen in this picture are wasting their parent’s money just because they are dancing and came from villages.
I am afraid, the problem is not with dancing boys and girls, but with those who consider dance as a taboo or they have a material interest and been paid, may be petro-dollars to propagate things into a specific direction.
The people are different and diverse. They are different in their attitude, in their eating habits, in their wearing habits so and so. Some people like to go for jogging or walking. Some people like swimming or gym. Some people like to worship and go to mosques, churches and temples. Some people like music, dance and socialization.
There is no harm in any of the above activities, but, a matter of choice which is fundamental and birth right to every human being whether or not the subject human being born and brought-up in a village, town, industrial or post industrial cosmopolitan cities.
Jogging, walking, gym and even swimming always need energy and one has to force him or her into doing it to keep fit, but, on contrary the sports keep you involve into it and you would feel enjoying by doing it.
There fore dance is a best sport not only to enjoy it, but, to keep fit. You don’t have to force yourself in doing it. It will keep you involving in to it, and, you will enjoy doing it till you finally exhausted. Further more dance also carry an important aspect of spirituality. All the devotional music in Islam and great poets and suffees use to dance specially upon quawali. The great poet and suffee of 12th Century of Indian sub-Continent, Hazrit Amir Kusro use (wajid) to dance specially in the presence of Hazrit Nizam-u-din Olliyah. Women, also use to dance specially on the occasions of devotional music/socialization.
The economical and social developments of the world, exposing people to each others and new process of inter-action and socio-cultural discourse is taking place. In my opinion, a new global culture is in the making and our future generations, would be force to adjust and accommodate with new demands. I do remember that men in Kashmiri villages use to dance while women use to sing on special occasions particularly in marriage parties. I, wonder if it is still there, if not then what is new?
